HOW TO DO YOUR MAKEUP FOR THE BEACH

When you're spending a day at the beach, the last thing you want to worry about is your mascara running or your foundation creeping down your cheeks. Thankfully, there's a way to avoid that and still glam up a bit. Here's my favorite tips for gorgeous beach makeup:

1. Keep Foundation Light

Heavy foundation is a no-go at the beach - you'll end up looking cakey and overdone.

For the beach, I love a tinted moisturizer - and a nice bonus here is that they usually have SPF included (though you should still wear a regular sunscreen!). It's easy to apply, too; Just apply with your fingers and rub it in. Its portability makes it great for post-surf touch-ups, too.

Whatever you do, do not seal your canvas with powder. If you do, you'll end up with a cakey mess.

2. Go With Creamy Bronzer and Blush

Remember what I said about powder - it's a no go at the beach! But don't worry, you don't have to forgo your beloved bronzer and blush.

Instead, try the cream versions. For bronzer, you can even try a foundation that's four shades darker than your usual.

Be sure to apply lightly; You don't want to look overdone at the beach. If you're worried about oil and shine, pack some blotting papers to freshen up.

3. Keep Eye Shadow Neutral

Keeping with the light and breezy feel, make sure your shadows are neutral.

One of my favorite palettes for a beachy look is the Lorac Unzipped Palette. It has 10 gorgeous neutral shades to flatter any skin tone so you can try that one out too.

4. Try Waterproof Mascara and Eyeliner

To avoid looking like a raccoon by the end of the day, be sure to choose a waterproof version of your favorite mascara and liner. Simple!

5. Ditch the Lipstick

I honestly don't love creamy lipstick at the beach - it's a recipe for sandy lips haha.

I highly recommend a lip stain or tinted balm instead. It lasts a lot longer and won't smudge.

A day at the beach doesn't have to mean skipping your beauty routine. Just keep it simple, light and neutral, and you'll have a gorgeous, breezy look that will last all day while you sit back with your toes in the sand.
